    The Ozzman Cometh

    Artist: Ozzy Osbourne

The Prince Of Darkness underwent one of his period rebirths in the 90s, launching the annual Ozzfest with the help of his wife Sharon and son Jack in defiant response to organisers of the alt.rock festival Lollapalooza, who refused to let Ozzy onto their line-up. The phenomenally successful heavy metal roadshow continues to serve as both a launching pad for up-and-coming acts, and a prestigious event for established legends. In 1997, Ozzy reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time ever, co-headlining Ozzfest with them and his own solo band. Released that same year, The Ozzman Cometh was Ozzy’s third compilation and his highest-charting yet, reaching No 13 in the US. Its simple artwork of a crucifix against a black backdrop gave it a relic-like grativas, suitable for a collection that included previously unreleased Black Sabbath material. The title is a pun on The Iceman Cometh, the 1939 play by US playwright Eugene O’Neill.
